Unemployment figures reach 17-year-high!

Job Centre SignN.B. Any opinions expressed or comments made within this column are those of Matt Howarth's, and are not those of Atherton Online.

Latest figures show that the highest number of 16-24 year-olds to date are out of work, unemployed and are looking for work. The numbers surged 52,000 over the quarter to 1.04 million – 22.3 per cent of the age group and the highest since records began in 1992. We can't be surprised by these figures surely? The seemingly only busy place to be at the moment is that of the Job Centre. Should you not be in work you are subjected to intense questioning by workers at the Job centre and having to prove as to whether or not you have been looking for a job. How hard really is it to get a job in normal circumstances? Are talents going to waste? Or is it a simple case of people not bothering to look to intensely?

Ed Milliband has accused our Prime Minister in the House of Commons that he is "standing aside and doing nothing" whilst jobs are being lost, people are being made redundant and jobs aren't being given out.
Our beloved Prime Minister's response to that was neutral and robotic.increased unemployment was "hugely unwelcome" he claims and a "tragedy" for those affected. A shrug of the shoulders, the buck passed and the responsibility forced upon some unexpected poor soul who works with this deluded man. What has David Cameron done for us since that power he holds somewhat went to his head?
Instead of addressing the problems, he pointed and alerted attention to a range of successful schemes to help people.
"There is not an ounce of complacency," he said. "We will do everything we can."

What successful schemes? A scheme in my opinion isn't a job. Am I wrong? Do one of these magical schemes create jobs?

Mr Miliband said unemployment was forecast to keep rising and declared: "The defining characteristic of this Government is it does nothing as thousands of people find themselves unemployed."

There is no point in stating that help for this subject is at the top of the Government's agenda, because if it was something would have been done about this by now. How long has this situation been on-going? Only to get worse of course. I'm personally not a lover of David Cameron owing to the fact he portrays himself in a way where his head is stuck up in the delusional clouds of the Conservatives. Unrealistic, wishy washy and living in the land of green meadows. Never has there been such an irritant.

We can protest, we can complain and we can shout, however if no jobs are out there then what is to be done? We live in a competitive society... thus does that mean we have to step up our own game?

Whatever it means, jobs are still being lost and statistics are decreasing. The Job Centre is thriving yet seemingly isn't delivering.
What a situation... what is to be done?

How has your experience been of finding a job? How long did your search last and did it prove successful in the end? What advise would you give to those who spend their days seeking for employment?
