Happy New Year!
Yes I know It is shocking to think we are already nearly halfway through the first month of this new year, thus my wishes seem just that little bit too late. It seems just seconds ago that we were all perched around our dining tables over indulging in many a Turkey, the roasties (done to perfection) and also the pigs in their cosy little warm winter blankets. I am already missing the sights of the flashing, pulsating and static fairy lights all over people's homes as I observe on one of my many journey's... not to mention playing the critic of people's outside garden decorations. Providing you haven't suffered with consuming far too many calories I do very much hope 2012 is shaping up to be a delightfully enjoyable one for you all so far. It is very difficult in now trying to get back to normal as I'm still firmly in the holiday mode! A lovely few weeks though and just another three hundred and so days before we can enjoy once more.
Already I have written my first blog of the year and within that I have stated how much I feel this really is the year for new opportunities and new experiences. I have a few exciting projects lined up in the coming months and hopefully if they prove successful I shall look forward to sharing them all with you in the near future.
I certainly did not find myself in a mile long queue in the High Street on boxing day, nor did I become obsessed with any form of apparent bargain which was on offer. Seeing the sights of people clutching onto their precious designer handbags and attire at cheap prices was enough to make me simply eat another chocolate from the comfort of my sofa as I shook my head in major disapproval. I simply say What Recession? I for one certainly would not have thought we are all apparently watching the pennies. All these shops which seem to be going under and struggling seem to be the average shops rather than those designer places which I would have thought would be suffering the most...? Seemingly not! Those designer label folk must be keeping our country surviving single handedly, did that damn Census not reveal anything at all about our own personal spending habits and financial situation? We clearly all spent hours filling in and ticking boxes for no apparent reason whatsoever.
I didn't fail to notice the fact that somebody had stated that they would like me to be more "Positive" with my ramblings within 2012... now of course I am not classifying myself as a grey cloud, however, I'm afraid that simply this world is surrounded and embedded with negativity. The country is apparently in financial uproar (not that anyone in the Trafford Centre is aware of it), there seems to be a new story everyday of somebody who has lost their life in a terrible circumstance and also the prat that is Shadow Health Minister Diane Abbott is somehow still holding a job. Of course it is no good to dwell but a strong sense of realism and a snap check of reality needs to occur in all our overworked brain cells. Anyway, didn't you read the story about the house that got its brick worked painted red for the Christmas season? I thought that would have brought you some festive cheer at the time!
Did any of us make New Years resolutions before breaking into a rendition of Auld Lang Syne that fine evening? I can't help but feel they are now somewhat old hat. They all seem to be based around the same subjects of losing weight, quitting smoking and naively promising yourself that you shall acquire a gym subscription! Of course none of them shall last beyond a month and in-fact if you were in the minority who made one, I shall put my money were my overly opinionated gob is by guessing that I am 100% sure you have broken them already! Why bother? Should you wish to change something about yourself then you jolly well shall, whatever time of the year. If you don't wish to start extra walks, turn your Breakfast, lunch's and teas into something only rabbits would enjoy or even see one of those ghastly personal trainers in a bid to shed the Christmas weight then be happy with those few extra pounds! You have to make it through the next 365 days before you can worry about it for another year...
I didn't make any for the sake of making any, however I did set myself goals and targets... I shall let you know as to if and when I manage to tick off any on my virtual check-list...
Straight from the heart - This Week:
These days it is seemingly part of the norm to see well-known brands and retailers go out of business, most recently restaurant chain Little Chef. I discuss as to whether or not I think It shall be missed at the side of the UK'S motorways up and down the country. [VIEW HERE]
The BBC has received thousands upon thousands of complaints and a Facebook group attracting around 25,000 likes has been setup. Why? Owing to the BBC deciding to axe their flagship Sunday morning magazine show. Down to budget cuts they apparently had no other choice, they also recently revealed that 61% of their programming is advertisments. I reveal as to why this show should be saved as to why we are all IN NEED of Something for the weekend. [VIEW HERE]
A recent survey has revealed that those who own both a TV and a car are 27% more likely to have a heart related illness. Are these survey's useful at keeping us on our toes? Or they just simply stating the downright obvious? I discuss. [VIEW HERE]
The blogs I tend to write for my website are usually showbiz orientated and for my first blog of 2012 I asked the question as to whether or not the definition of a "celebrity" has changed. That can be read over on my website this week, however one woman who certainly IS a celebrity is that of popstar, film star, fashion icon and generally good idol - Madonna! I bring my thoughts as to why I feel she is a true star. [VIEW HERE]
