We all like a good hotel or a good B&B. When we go to such a place we expect cleanliness, a friendly ambiance, pleasant rooms, a charming host and maybe something a little different...
this hotel has something to offer like I have never seen before.
There really is something distinctively woolly in one room at The Hotel Pelirocco in Brighton. Cosier than others, warmer than others and undoubtedly charming and individual. Most items in the room have been knitted from yarn! The 'do knit disturb' sign gives a clue to what lies inside. The room has a variety of knitted accessories, including a lamp, a bedspread, toothbrush and paste along with a telephone cover and matching curtains.
Certainly not sticking to the traditional fixtures, fittings and ornamental pleasures... this room even offers a knitted full English!
These amazing creations are the handiwork of artist Kate Jenkins, who spent two weeks crocheting each item.
Kate, who has a background in fashion and design, believes that anything can be produced with yarn.
She is one of many knitting devotees who are responsible for a resurgence in crocheting.
Far from being an activity associated with your grandmother, the hobby - much like the revival in baking - is now a cool and retro activity adopted by hipsters.
Knitting's popularity has also spawned another stitching movement - yarnbombing - which involves 'guerilla' knitters brightening up statues, lampposts and trees with colourful woven creations.
What an extremely clever lady! I would love to stay in her room. Such talent, originality and creativity and unbelievably perfectly detailed. Simply delightful. Pretty as a picture. Who said knitting was boring?
