How pleased I am to be back with you this week after being unfortunately indisposed last week! I of course return to a warm, returning welcoming reception I’m sure. After people watching and observing over the last 5 days or so, it has become ever so apparent to just how visibly uncomfortable many of us are now beginning to look due to the impending festive season being just a mere few weeks away. We must prepare! Turkey’s need to be ordered, decorations need to be erected, crackers need to be bought and quite frankly the sheer thought of the the 101 things to do can turn the most sane and well spirited of people into a personality of a mean, old scrooge! I have made a start on the present buying and for the first time of experiencing the festive season in my long 18 years, I know exactly what I am buying whom. It was apparently the busiest week for online shopping retailers the last 5 days... too early? Or is it a case that simply many of us have now finally identified that online shopping is just far easier? Along with being drastically cheaper. Brits seem to enjoy a queue, so much so that some of us queue for the sheer fun of it, many of us not exactly knowing what on earth we are even queueing for... how British!
Somewhat old hat now however, why queue if you can shop with the comfort of your humble abode and a good old English brew in a china mug? Yet, there is something lacking... what ambiance is there as you ponder upon ebay’s wares? What ambiance is there to be had? Where is the sound of chirpy people laughing merrily in the festive spirit? Where is the sound of impatience at temperamental Brit’s who have gone red in the face with the sheer stress of it all? A few miles away in the Trafford centre no doubt. Some things you just want to try and physically test before you buy, but is it any wonder online shopping is the bandwagon everyone has jumped on this Christmas when you are greeted to miserable and unhelpful shop assistants in the High Street? It certainly isn’t an easy task to do is it?
Many thanks to Ann Rayner who contacted Atherton Online. Ann didn’t have a query, a problem or even a complaint... what she sent us was a compliment! The simplest and most pleasurable smile upon my own face and site owner’s Alex was down to her simple and yet heartfelt words. I hope you tell all your friends! Spread the word (Atherton Online) onwards and upwards!
