To think I have only been going to the Manchester Christmas markets for the last 2 years completely and undoubtedly questions my claim that I am proud of originating from North West England! This years German & Christmas Markets are now open until December 21st. It was my mums first experience last year and she was simply overwhelmed with it all! This years offering is apparently bigger than ever and unsurprisingly more expensive!

I am looking forward to seeing what unusual, weird and wacky gifts and stocking fillers I can pick up this year and to sense the hustle and bustle of present buying and Christmas ambiance. One thing I shall not participate in is a glass of mulled wine. Last year I was aghast and astonished by the severely high labelled prices for a mere glass of what is effectively a smelly red liquid! The food aspect is slightly disappointing. A Christmas market would make you think of a mince pie or maybe even a stodgy Christmas pudd! I’m afraid you shall be disappointed as such things are not in existence. Instead why not indulge in some German delicacies? Some foreign Cheese and smelly wine? It doesn’t give you the same festive cheer which a warm mince pie does, does it? After seeking bargains and pondering over prices I shall look forward to diverting into Starbucks coffee house for the finest of festive Lattes... I may just shed a tear into my coffee cup over the lack of festive food, yet I’m sure the Latte with whipped cream shall bring just as much pallet enjoyment to my taste buds!
