Crimes are a thing of the norm in these times, up to a point I would say that nothing anymore shocks you. Something, however, which other than the obvious of crimes I think is absolutely repulsive, the lowest of the low and quite frankly disturbing are those stories about animals and what some disgusting people do to them. A court heard this week that a mother had killed her friend’s ten-week-old kitten in the microwave due to her friend reporting her boyfriend to the police.
Gina Robins, 30, asked to use the 770 watt device to heat some baby food but instead shut the animal inside and switched it on, Torbay magistrates heard. The cat's owner Sarah Knutton was sitting in her lounge when she heard a 'loud popping noise' followed by a 'hideous screech' before discovering her scorched pet.
The cat owner was so distressed by the sight, she immediately vomited int he kitchen sink.
The incident happened just five days after an altercation between the pair in which Ms Knutton had called the police on Robins' boyfriend, magistrates were told.
It is claimed Robins later sent a text to Miss Knutton which read:
'Remember the saying 'what goes around comes around'? It has started already to bite you in the a***. The cat? Karma.'
Robins denies one count of causing unnecessary suffering to the black-and-white cat at Torbay Magistrates Court in Torquay, Devon.
The court heard how the pair fell out when Miss Knutton called the police on February 11 because Robins' boyfriend Matt Taylor was shouting abuse outside her house in Torquay.
Iain O'Donnell, prosecuting for the RSPCA, said:
'It is our case that the defendant put the kitten in a microwave and cooked it to death.
'Whilst in the lounge Miss Knutton heard a "loud popping noise" in the kitchen and then a hideous screech.
'She was shocked by the sounds.
'Miss Knutton said she would go and have a look what it was but the defendant offered to go as she wanted to reheat the baby food.
'The defendant then ran back into the living room after about 20 seconds and said "Oh God. its horrible".
'When Miss Knutton went into the kitchen she saw the kitten lying in the microwave with the door open.
'She was physically sick in the kitchen sink. Robins then said the cats must have been fighting and shut themselves inside.'
In a statement read in court, vet Colin Cameron, who examined the kitten, said there was
'no doubt it would have suffered unnecessarily' before dying. It read:
'The kitten's front paws were tucked under as if clenching before death and the claws were extended as if in a fight response.
'It's skin was also redder because of the heat form the microwave.'
I am not afraid to say that I would quite confidently hang this woman from a great height and have the pleasure in doing so. A little harsh? No! What sort of sane individual does this? Not only is this woman absolutely vile beyond belief she is quite obviously severely disturbed. To think of what she has done without the slight percentage of regret is something which can only be described as “insanely sick.” People like this need to be as I said... Hanged! Absolutely disgusting. There aren’t many other words which can describe it because such actions are so unbelievable that you cannot think about them. I am in disbelief that such cruel individuals, whoa re nothing other than heartless are residents here in the United Kingdom. I sincerely hope when she does get thrown behind bars fellow inmates know exactly who she is. I have a vast amount of stuffed animals in my house, not just the average kind but some extremely realistic looking ones and I wouldn’t even manhandle one of those in the way that this woman has handled a real life, living and breathing Kitten. Words fail to describe and I think that is all which needs to be said.
The trial continues.
