Halloween state of mind.

I am in no doubt at all that I am in an extreme minority that gets worryingly over excited every year on the 31st October. Halloween of course! year upon year I cannot get enough of the ghoulish stories, horror films and spookables of all kinds.

I stated last week that a survey revealed that Halloween was our second favourite celebration behind Christmas and I for one cannot agree more! More people  more than ever this year seemed to go all out to frighten the neighbours. Covering their houses with cotton wool, placing skull heads (plastic of course) in every blank space and just generally finding it a convenient excuse to eat sweets more than any other time in the year. This year was no different for me... as I still haven’t outgrown the American implemented annual scare fest! My house was covered in all the Witchy mod-cons, battery operated ornaments & even Halloween themed tinsel! alongside the decor was a homemade Halloween cake (not by myself I’m afraid) along with a buffet fit for a witch... I can assure you it was scarily edible! I even uploaded pictures of my efforts up on Facebook & Twitter, many people approved and seemed to take a fancy & commend my efforts in celebrating the underrated season.
Was there any disappointments? yes! NO TRICK OR TREATERS! packets upon packets of toffees of all sorts are now going spare at my house after no children dressed as vampires even attempted to knock at my door, how annoying! They would have been delighted to have been greeted with packets of jelly based body parts, whereas I’m sure many neighbours would have been hiding behind the settee at the sheer thought of children knocking round practically begging for sweets. Maybe children don’t find the appeal anymore? maybe parents encourage parties in-doors?  either way, saddening. I didn’t even see anyone in the streets! Either way I shall play the child for all the little ones that were unable to politely say “Trick or Treat” to the neighbours... anyway nothing beats indulging in popcorn and getting into the “Spirit” of things by watching the film classic that is Halloween in the comfort of your sitting room!
