This week has been rather marvellous! inspiring, insightful, positive and even eye opening! not only has this week seen me rejoin the 21st century with a mobile phone which does more than send a text message and make a call... but I have also been reigniting my passion for writing of all kinds by taking a different approach, simply relaxing and being inspired by allowing myself to go back to basics... the raw passion which got me into putting my ever so fine fountain pen onto paper in the first place. I have cancelled a few of my commitments just for this week and my weekly Atherton column is the only thing which shall not be affected by my somewhat random and drastic decisions! I am one of those people that demands and expects things immediately... patience is something I haven’t yet perfected, though I am getting better! sometimes it takes either someone else to say something to you or something you observe to make you stop and think and with my sudden inspired state of mind and indeed my bathing in positivity I am excited for what the concluding part of the year 2011 shall bring!
I would just like to say for anybody wishing to comment on any of my topics within my weekly offerings here at Atherton Online, I would appreciate it if you use the “Comments Box” to bring your reactions, replies and opinions about the topic itself... rather than endless disagreements, virtual bickering or constant criticisms. This is a community website for Atherton, Leigh and roundabouts. I appreciate all the support from the local people and afar and all your kind comments. The local community needs to support local people with talents before they take them to their next step within their own lives and for me personally, I am enjoying my weekly contributions to a website which is not only about Local News, Stories & Issues... but also for the local community itself. If we left it as purely a news website I’m afraid the site would be bombarded with numerous stabbings and crime stories. Atherton Online is on the lookout for some more local writers who are willing to contribute to the site... if indeed you would like to drop us a letter or two... then please email: hello@athertononline.co.uk

Topic wise this week, I discuss the activitsts who are protesting against capitalism in-front of ST. Paul's cathedral in London and discuss how there seems to be a class divide between the campaigners. One of the activists is the son of a property tycoon... is their protesting flawed before they have even achieved anything? and what exactly is it they indeed want to achieve? I discuss. "Too sick too work" yet not to riot! it has been discovered that 1 in 8 of the convicted London rioters were claiming some form of incapacity or disability benefit. What action should be taken to ensure that lessons are learnt? & are the genuine benefit claimers being tarred with the same brush? A survey has revealed that Halloween is our second favourite celebration behind that of Christmas. Behind in popularity was the likes of Bonfire night & Easter! Parents are even willing to spend more at Halloween for themed parties... is the American imported idea purely yet another money making scheme? Sarah Beeny is known for her expert knowledge on all things property... recently in a Channel 4 documentary Sarah was shown restoring a once grand mansion from delapodation... yet the local council states that she hasn't had any planning permission! Sarah, seemingly not following her own expert advice suffers from her own restoration nightmare!
