Google’s android operating system which comes on most new mobile phones and tablets has overtaken the amount of apps downloaded on Apple’s iPad & iPhone combined! In the second quarter of this year it has been reported that overall 44 percent of apps downloaded took place on that of the Android software. Apple came in at a total of 31 percent.
Steve Jobs who was the co-founder of Apple who recently died has slammed Android in his new biography and brands Andoird a ‘stolen product’ for its similarity to the iPhone operating system.
He also threatens to fight until his ‘last dying breath’ and go to ‘thermonuclear war’ to stop it being a success.
Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer also derided the operating system, saying you needed to be a 'computer scientist' to understand Android phones.
Apple still however are far ahead in terms of overall Application downloads and with there success rate as a brand.
Although facts are facts I do think these findings are slightly flawed as without becoming too technical, this is all coming down to comparing the Android phone system to that of Apple. Android are based at the average market, they have released a high amount of cheaper phones ranging from around the £200-£300 mark and quite frankly that is the average price people are willing to pay on a mobile phone, so clearly more people are going to have those more so than the Apple iPhones. Apple create their phones for the more premium market, with there phones costing up to £600-£700 much more a price which is less appealing or affordable by the average consumer and surely that would clearly make Android the market leaders when it comes to phones?
Android are aiming for an entirely different market and so surely it isn’t right to compare? they do offer a more expensive brand but when compared to Apple they are simply gooseberry! then of course we have the Blackberry’s of the technological world. I’m sure all you tech lovers shall agree that Apple is the far more superior fruit!
