It is absolute disgrace that the mob which have decided to protest outside of the iconic ST. Paul’s Cathedral are still aloud to do so... despite forcing the Cathedral to close and therefore ending any form of tourism to the iconic attraction and religious build. They are protesting against capitalism and as a result now over 70 tents lay in-front of the Cathedral’s main doors. One of the activists who is leading the disruption who goes by the name of Jack Hartcup who is studying for a philosophy degree has a father who is a multi millionaire property tycoon and just 3 years ago was living in one of his father’s 1.5 million apartments. MR Hartcup was also involved in the events at Dale Farm.
Speaking about his Father to the Daily Mail, he said:
‘I’m an anarchist and I don’t believe in leadership,' he said.
‘I’m not set to inherit this fortune. I don’t believe in property.
‘My father has done very well for himself but I don’t intend to do what he does. He has gone along with the capitalist system.’
Also speaking generally about protesting and what he hopes to achieve, he added:
'I’ve been at Dale Farm and I’ve been here, but I’m not the centre of anything.
'I want to see real change in this country at an economic level. I don’t want to see us destroy the planet.
'It’s not something you can do by voting every four years. People are so tied down with jobs and other commitments, they can’t protest.'
Until 2008, Jack Hartcup was registered as living with his father in one of the 14 luxury flats, which sell for more than £1.5million and cost up to £1,500 per week to rent.
His grandmother, Adeline Hartcup, wrote Children Of The Great Country Houses; the book was published by the National Trust and explores the lives of children brought up in a privileged world.
Mr Hartcup's father confirmed he was aware of his son’s involvement with the Occupy London movement - which challenges the very nature of his own business - but refused to comment further.
It comes as the protests at St Paul's - which have forced the cathedral to close - were accused of being a 'big charade’ with only one in ten tents occupied overnight.
Footage from a thermal imaging camera shot by a police helicopter revealed that the ramshackle camp is almost completely empty during the cold nights.
It suggests the majority of the 300 ‘defiant’ protesters at the cathedral return home or to hotels after dark to sleep in warm beds.
This is absolutely ridiculous. I am all for protesting and getting your voice heard on issues and so for their efforts I give them 10/10 and they have my up most of respect. That is where my understanding begins and ends with these people. Their protesting is now causing a major inconvenience for people in London and all though they are being quiet and not violent... the reality is they should just not be allowed.
The cathedral should have removed them immediately as recently they discovered that it is the Cathedral which owns the land were the protesters are laying. If they most protest why not simply bugger off to the likes of Hyde Park? They are obstructing an important piece of London and it just should not be happening. The police are seemingly unable to do much at all and so really what can be done? The joke is... most of them aren’t even staying in their tents overnight, which somewhat makes their protest lose all genuinity and sincerity. They clearly aren’t as passionate as they are making out and quite frankly are being nothing else other than a nuisance. Middle class idiots who for certain in the case of Jack Hartcup has the option to go back to Mummy and Daddy for a severely high hand out and to have a stable financial backing if needed. I’m all for defending what you believe in, but these aren't the average group of people who if they don’t work shall struggle to make a living... are they?
