Almost one in eight of those accused of involvement in the summer riots were claiming disability or sickness benefits. Official figures shown and released to the Daily Mail revealed that,12 per cent of the suspects hauled before the courts were on incapacity benefit or disability living allowance.
The figures raised concerns that many alleged rioters were cheating the benefits system.
Critics questioned whether anyone capable of joining in the looting or smashing up a shop was actually too ill to work.
Emma Boon, of the Taxpayers’ Alliance, said:
‘Some of these people might be legitimately getting DLA or Incapacity Benefits, but the rest are simply giving genuine claimants a bad name.
‘Taxpayers might wonder how so many of those involved in the riots were well enough to be out causing a public nuisance and looting, when they claim to be so ill that they need help from the state.
'Anyone found to be wrongly claiming DLA or IB should have it revoked and should be made to pay the money back. If the deception is serious enough they should be jailed.’
It is absolutely outrageous that a group of this low intelligence and lacking in brain cells are able to cheat the system to such an extent. I am sick of seeing cheats, frauds and basic liars managing to get hand outs from the state so easily. That in mind is extremely important not to tar everyone with the same brush... which the Media seem to do quite easily and regularly. The amount of fraudsters this country has produced is astonishing and unbelievable... so much so that the genuine cases of whom actually do have genuine disabilities get categorised the same as these good for nothing members of society. They have all luckily been published in National Newspapers... so hopefully as a result there now should be quite a few less false claimers on this earth. It is absolutely disgusting and how seemingly easy it is for these people to get away with it... do the benefit offices not check whether or not these claimers are real or not? clearly we have our answer in front of us. We are living in a world were Jeremy Kyle contenders are filling up council houses and to put no finer point on it... making a mockery of a system which has been put in place with genuine reasons to do so in mind.
The Rioting was one of the most shocking, eye opening and revealing things this country has seen in a while and I was somewhat surprised with some people’s shocked reactions in thinking that nobody was capable of doing such a thing! People need to be aware and quickly. Luckily, we can give the thumbs up to David Cameron in one sense as he ensured that all the rioters had heavy punishments and indeed they did! The benefits system is in such a mess however and I sympathise with those genuine people who are suffering with all these harsh plans being implemented by the government... which albeit necessary are making the genuine, truth telling people in society lose out on valuable funds which they basically need to live off on a week to week basis.
The highly unintelligent people who were involved in the criminal rioting activity need to be locked away and force fed some form of Education into their somewhat weak and easily led braincells. For anyone in council houses, they should be removed and put into community accommodation! harsh? no! the waiting list for council properties is unbelievable and I for one would certainly like a genuine family living in accommodation as there would be clear evidence of appreciation! why give thieves, criminals and vagabonds the luxury of their own home if they think that stealing and rampaging the streets is the norm? Human Rights defenders need to wake up and smell the coffee... give these people some education and ensure they know that their actions and decisions are wrong. Then again, would such a simple method get through to them? probably not! in which case more advanced measures are needed.
I just hope that these people are now living off the absolute financial minimum, of which I’m sure they are spending on Booze & Alcohol over the essential Bread & Milk... stereotyping maybe, yet I highly believe it, Jeremy Kyle is excellent for people observation!
