Halloween is our second favourite family celebration, even more so than Bonfire Night & Easter. Parents apparently spend up to £100 on parties for the American influenced, scary imported fest! In a survey of over 2000 parents, all of them stated that they would be splashing out on something Halloween related... whether that be a party or just simply turning their house into something Dracula himself would be proud of, despite recent hard-hitting financial struggling times.
On average it was revealed that parents spend £73 on decorations and food for average parties throughout the year... on Halloween however, parents are more generous as they apparently spend up to an extra £42 on Halloween themed decorations, food and trick or treat sweets! Christmas still remains the most popular festive occasion, however, with a 63 percent lead. More than one in three families will celebrate the spooky season by throwing a party this year, according to the survey.
The rise in the popularity of Halloween in Britain is reflected in the colossal growth on the amount of money spent which has soared by 2,300 per cent over the last 10 years to be now worth £280million.
How proud I am of the countries parents! Halloween may indeed be an American influenced spook fest, yet the spooky goings on, on October 31st seems to have a somewhat charm about it all. My own house has a 60 minute makeover every year... when my mum digs out the Halloween decorations from the shed and transforms the house into a Dracula pad! Probably a little ostentatious, yet rewarding. I’m looking forward to a Halloween based buffet, a Witches brew (which consists of Limeade, Ice Cream, Strawberry source and Snake Sweets) and also a long night of Horror Movies! So, yes... I have seemingly fallen for the American imported event, though much better than Bonfire Night! I shall be indulging in an Indian platter, a slice of Halloween sponge cake and hiding behind the woolen blanket whilst watching Halloween the movie! idyllic. A night of escapism. Anyone fancy a midnight spook trail? no? just me again!
