HIT Entertainment, the company behind the creation of Thomas the Tank Engine & Bob The Builder are set to be causing a stir, as on October 31st they shall be revealing a new programme called “Mike The Knight” which is set to be the next leading children’s television show - watch out parents!
26 merchandising deals have already been put in place which means that before the programme has even gone on air, next year, clothes, books and magazines shall be hitting the shops!
The show has already been sold around the world as did HIT Entertainment’s other shows, Fireman Sam, Bob The Builder & Thomas the Tank Engine.
Mike is an animated knight who teaches kids the value of responsibility and whose motto is 'Be a knight, do it right'.
Mike is voiced by a 10-year-old while Being Human star Russell Tovey is the voice of his dragon pal Squirt.
Mr Tovey, 29, said he was thrilled at the chance of impressing his brother's children, Nathan and Mackenzie, aged six and four.
He said: 'Mike The Knight could trump Dr Who in terms of credibility with my nephews. I could see it becoming a hit in the playground.'
Hit Entertainment thinks Mike could be its biggest brand yet.
In the show, Squirt and another dragon called Sparkie help Mike tackle Vikings and trolls in the kingdom of Glendragon.
Creator Alexander Bar was inspired by BBC1's Merlin.
He said: 'There wasn't a show that catered for pre-schoolers' fascination with all things castles, dragons, magic and adventure.'
I can imagine the look of dread on parent’s faces immediately! it is astonishing the profit to be made on children’s television character merchandising. Prepare yourselves for your children to be mithering you for a “Mike the Knight” magazine and cuddly dragon squirt! I have to admit I watched an episode of the children’s show Rastamouse earlier in the year and it was absolutely fantastic! he was the latest craze and was a Rastafarian crime fighting mouse! of whom received criticism because it wasn’t a real Rastafarian actor who was voicing him! of course the idiots of society branded it “racist” but the popularity soared and is still one of the highest rating shows for Cbeebies. Allow your children to enjoy the latest crazes whilst they can parents! before you know it they shall be leaving home and watching horror films! is this the right time to admit that I STILL watch Thomas the Tank Engine? For that admission, I have probably lost all credibility!
