Matt Howarth, This Week

Matt HowarthIs it just me or has this week really flown by? I noticed it had when I sat down to watch my weekly intake of BBC’S Dragon’s Den. It really didn’t seem an entire 7 days since I last watched the new Dragon in the lair Hillary Devy fill my screen with those dodgy shoulder pads! In-between playing a fashion critic this week, it has been a mixed one to say the least. Setting myself challenges, triumphing & then sometimes being slapped in the face as I get shunted right back down to reality. Being made fully aware that I am not living the dream... just yet anyway.

What I have noticed this week is this sudden burst of cold weather we have been getting. I am not one to complain at that though, as one would prefer to wear one’s thick knit jumper than one’s summer t-shirt. I simply cannot abide the summer and all the frivolities it brings along with it.

We all know it is much easier to get warm than it is to cool off. In the Winter we can all wrap up in our favourite attire made of wool and thick cottons, whilst in the evenings we can all curl up on our sofas in front of the blazing fire with the cat sat on the rug just in front of it. Ideal. In the summer on the other hand, us that simply cannot abide the blazing rays of the impromptu sunlight have to simply remain within our four walls unless we wish to risk walking down the streets with every step being much too difficult as the sweat begins to drip down our red inflammed faces. Getting cool is no easy task either, handheld fans are at the best of times useless whilst any other mechanical contrivance just seems to circulate hot air and in the end you are red in the face with aggravation as well as the blazing heat. Here’s hoping that the cold weather snap continues from here on in. I have a feeling I shall be in the minority but if you want the heat, Spain, Australia & the likes are waiting... just a plane away in fact.

I am extremely saddened this week due to the Red Tiger Karate Club of which took place at the Chowbent Unitarian Chapel Hall every Friday evening has been forced to come to an end. I managed the hall every Friday whilst their class were underway and what a lovely bunch of people they all where. Owing to I’m afraid the lack of interest and only averaging around 9 children being involved on a weekly basis, financially it was no longer viable and therefore had to axe the Atherton classes and have therefore moved all the children who were involved temporarily to the Horwich class. I think it is an absolute shame that there are things like this out there for our local community of Children yet they just do not seem to either be interested or them not taking advantage of the facilities. This unfortunate happening is now one less thing for the children of Atherton to get involved in. Red Tiger went to Chowbent Primary School in order to promote however to simply no avail and also owing to the fact they have to pay for the use of the Chowbent Hall it was no longer financially worth it.

Just weeks ago I posted on the Atherton Online forum wondering exactly

“What is there to do for Kids in Atherton these days?”

I put that question to you all again. Is there simply nothing for them to do? & did you realise that the Red Tiger club even existed in Atherton?

Watching ITV’S new game show Red or Black? I review the show & to just why the show has had mixed responses and a loss in ratings. Celebrity Big Brother comes to an end this week. I reveal how there was more action going on behind the scenes with a bomb scare rather than in-house action. Finally, with The Saturdays, Pixie Lott, Leona Lewis & Melanie C all releasing new singles this week. I reveal just as to why this is the biggest week in music so far in 2011. [VIEW HERE]
