Another week has passed us all by and if you have been let’s say “unfortunate” enough to catch the news Headlines at any point this week, you shall notice that once again the top stories have been filled with bad news, unfortunate disasters and just general disarray. 2011 will certainly go down in news circles as “the year of news” with the shooting of Osama Bin Laden leading the headlines in Political terms and of course all the recent events and goings on in Libya. As far as Natural Disasters go, earlier this year saw Japan experience its biggest Earthquake in not just the country’s history but also the history of Nuclear Power. We also all saw and observed luckily from the comfort of our sofa’s this week, Hurricane Irene rip through and destroy parts of Canada and the United States Eastern Coast, resulting in just over 20 deaths and billions of pounds worth of damage. All these large scale disasters leave you wondering what exactly is on the cards next. just what I what to know is however is just what happened to Silly Season?
Another disaster which 2011 brought upon us all this week was that of The Speaker’s wife Sally Bercow becoming the first contestant to leave the Celebrity Big Brother house. How utterly disconcerted I am, wondering just why she was the first to leave the Reality TV establishment. I thought, it was a pleasure to watch somebody on a show of this sort who could at least string a sentence together and of course making it transparently obvious that she was doing it for herself, so to lose the simple title of a housewife. In her eviction interview she didn’t circumvent any questions, she was rather up front about her motives and the £100’000 prize money of which she openly said she is donating most of it too her charity and only keeping 40K of it! Maybe my expectations were too high in terms of her being a likeable figure to the rest of the Great British Public... though she has since quoted since leaving the house that she “Will” do more Reality TV! Desperate? Fame Hungary? or is she just trying to be liked and showing that she is just as normal as the next wannabe politician? I’m just about clinging on to the latter... despite the ever increasing blacked out reputation of her name in the Media Industry.
I would like to announce that our very own site editor Alex has increased my role here at Atherton Online.
