Monday 23rd November saw 8 primary schools from Atherton and Tyldesley take part in the ATSA Y5/6 Basketball festival at Fred Longworth High School.
St. George's Central, Parklee, St. John's, St. Richard's, Holy Family, St. Stephen's, Hindsford and St. Ambrose Barlow all brought teams of children to take part in the event.
The schools were divided into two groups with the winning school from each group meeting in the final. The competition was very close in both groups and as the final scores were added up, Holy Family were the winners in group one with Parklee the winners in group two.
In the final match, Parklee took an early lead and went in the score three more to be crowned ATSA Basketball champions for the second year running.
I would like to thank Mr Whalley for organising this event on behalf of ATSA and Mr I Gregory who was present on the night to lead the event. Thanks should also go to students from Fred Longworth High School who supported this event by officiating, timekeeping and scoring. Without all this help, this competition would not have been the success that it was. A mention also to the many supporters who came to event to help create a fantastic atmosphere.
