Thursday 15th October saw children from 15 primary schools take part in the ATSA KS2 cross country event on the playing fields of Atherton Community School.
Over 260 children from: St. George's Central, Sacred Heart, St. Philip's, St. Michael's, Garrett Hall, Tyldesley Primary, Parklee, Atherton St. George's, St. Richard's, Boothstown Holy Family, St. Ambrose Barlow, St John's Mosley Common, Meadowbank, St. Philip's and St. Stephen's came to take part in this popular event.
Schools brought four teams: Y3/4 girls team, Y3/4 boys team, Y5/6 girls team and a Y5/6 boys team. Individual awards were given out for the children finishing 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each race.
For the overall winning school, the total score of the top four runners from each school, in each team is added up. Then all the team scores are added together to provide an overall total and the school with the lowest total is the overall winner.
St. Stephen's took the overall prize with a total of 240 points. In second place was St. Ambrose Barlow with 300 points and St. George's Central took third place with 308 points.
I would like to thank all the staff from St. George's Central and Atherton Community School who helped at the event. Thank you also to all the students from Atherton Community School, who helped with the stewarding of the event and the many spectators for your valued support.
The picture shows some of the winning St. Stephen's team with their trophy.
