ATSA Fencing taster session

Today saw a successful ATSA fencing taster session take place at St. George's Central School in Tyldesley. Twenty children from from six local schools took part in the event which was led by fencing coach, Mr David Varey. Mr Varey was supported in the session by Mr Peter Martland.

Children from St. George's Central, Sacred Heart, St. Ambrose Barlow, Atherton St. George's, St. Michael's and St. Richard's took part in the session. The children took part in a variety of fencing activities, finishing off with a small duel against a partner.

We are looking to start a fencing club based at St. George's Central School in Tyldesley aimed at KS2 aged children. This will start in November and will be on Monday evenings. More details about this will be emailed to all Atherton and Tyldesley primary schools over the next few weeks.

I would like to thank David and Peter for providing an excellent session, catering and meeting the needs of all the children present.

The picture above shows the children who took part in the session with David and Peter.
