The 53rd and final ATSA event for this school year took place on Friday 10th July at Fred Longworth High School. This was the Atherton and Tyldesley football and netball league winners 'play off'.
This event involved the winners of the Atherton netball league: St. Richard's, playing the winners of the Tyldesley netball league: Holy Family. At the same time, the winners of the Atherton football league: St. Richard's, played the winners of the Tyldesley football league: St. Ambrose Barlow.
The netball match, which was expertly umpired by Mrs Emma Toone (Tyldesley Netball Club), went the way of the Tyldesley section with Holy Family proving too strong for St. Richard's.
The football match also went the way of the Atherton section with St. Richard's winning a close match with St. Ambrose Barlow.
Congratulations should go to all four teams for making it to this final match - it was great to see the enthusiasm from the children as they represented their town in this 'play off' fixture.
I would like to thank Emma for umpiring the netball match and Mr Barlow (SGC) for refereeing the football match. Thanks also to Fred Longworth High School for allowing us to use their facilities.
The picture above shows the winning St. Richard's football team with the winning Holy Family netball team.
