Thursday 25th June saw 12 primary schools from Atherton and Tyldesley take part in the Y3/4 Rounders festival at Meadowbank School. This was a re-arranged event because of the adverse weather conditions on the night of the original event in May.
St. George's Central, St. John's, St. Ambrose Barlow, Atherton St. George's, St. Richard's, Garrett Hall, Meadowbank, Hindsford, St. Michael's, Tyldesley Primary, St. Philip's and Holy Family all brought teams of children to take part in the event which was organised by ATSA.
The schools were divided into four groups with the top team from each group meeting in a semi final match. In group one, St. George's Central were the group winners and progressed to meet Tyldesley Primary from group two in the first semi-final. In group three, St. Philip's were the group winners and progressed to meet Holy Family from group four in the second semi-final. Tyldesley Primary won their semi final match and went on to meet Holy Family in the final.
In the final match, Tyldesley Primary proved to be too strong for their rivals from Holy Family as they went to win to become the 2015 ATSA Y3/4 Rounders champions.
I would like to thank Meadowbank for allowing us to use their facilities to host this event and also Mr Cooke from the school who was instrumental in arranging the fixtures for this festival. Thanks also to the staff from Meadowbank who umpired this event.
