Today saw a successful ATSA Tennis 'taster' session take place at Tyldesley Tennis club. Children from several local schools took part in the event which was led by Mr I Nutter (Head of PE at FLHS and Ellesmere Tennis club member). Mr Nutter was supported in the session by Mrs S Davies (SGC and Ellesmere Tennis club member) and Mr M Crane (Wigan Athletic Community Trust Tennis Coach).
Children from St. George's Central, Sacred Heart, St. Ambrose Barlow, Tyldesley Primary, Holy Family and St. Richard's took part in the session. The children took part in a variety of short tennis activities before they progressed onto simple versions of the game.
Tyldesley Tennis club are starting to run some ten week beginners tennis coaching sessions with their coach, Ross Smith, looking to work with primary aged children and their parents. These are to take place throughout May and June and are being part funded by Wigan Sports Council. For more information about this, please contact Dr John Turner on 0161 790 5212.
I would like to thank Dr Turner and Tyldesley Tennis club for hosting this event on behalf of ATSA. Thanks also to Mr I Nutter, Mrs S Davies and Mr M Crane for providing an excellent session, catering and meeting the needs of all the children present.
The picture above shows the children who took part in the session with Mr Nutter and Mr Crane.
