Youngsters lead the way with their fresh ideas

This term children in Year 5 and Year 6 at St. George’s Central School in Tyldesley have completed a topic looking at making a difference to their local area. This involved the children researching a local amenity and looking at ways it could be improved. Their chosen location was Astley Park in Tyldesley. The children interviewed local residents and conducted litter, traffic and crime surveys. From the research they then created plans for the park based on their findings and what they felt would benefit the local area in a sustainable way. The project cumulated in a presentation of their plans to Chair of the Pelican Centre - Trevor Barton, Grow for Giving Director - Pamela Jones Brown and Ian Jackson -Director of Cadence Community Hub, who were invited to visit the school. Some of the children will be presenting their work at Astley Park during the Tyldesley Town Partnership Easter Fun Day on Monday 6th April.

The picture shows some of the children with their work alongside Chair of the Pelican Centre - Trevor Barton, Grow for Giving Director - Pamela Jones Brown and Ian Jackson - Director of Cadence Community Hub.
