Nowt2Do? Celebrates recognition given by the 2012 Olyimpic games open weekend

Nowt2do LogoLocal community scheme Nowt2Do? has been recognised as an outstanding project by the 2012 Olympic Games Open Weekend.

To celebrate this achievement Nowt2Do? dancers will perform in a dance showcase in Leigh town centre on Saturday 24 July 2010 at 1pm.  This event is one of hundreds of taking place across the UK this weekend to mark only two years to go until the Olympic and Paralympics games.

Nowt2Do? is aimed at young people (in the year 6-11 school year group) living in the Wigan borough who have not been involved in any anti-social behaviour at school or in the community.

Constable Andrew Wright who leads on the project said “The recognition we have received is a tremendous achievement for the Nowt2Do? project and everyone involved. This scheme gives youngsters the chance to socialise, make friends and take part in free activities such as football and dance."

This summer’s activities have just begun and will be on-going throughout the holiday period. Local high schools Hesketh Fletcher High School, Fred Longworth High School and St Mary's Catholic High School all support the project. Details of how to take part can be found on their websites below.
