Shortly after 1pm on Friday 9 July 2010, police were called to the junction following reports of a collision.

Officers attended the scene and found a Fiat Punto had collided with a motorbike.

David was taken to hospital but died from his injuries a short time later.

David's mother said: "I feel numb. David has been taken from us while doing something that he loved. It is always in the back of your mind that something like this may happen when they own a motorbike, but you never expect to have to make funeral arrangements for your children.

"David meant everything to me - he was my baby.

"He was a bit mischievous and enjoyed a laugh. He loved motor racing, fast cars and fast bikes.

"David was a loving father of three daughters, Natalie, 14, Amy, eight and Gemma, two. He worshipped them.

"He will be sadly missed by many people."

Nobody else was injured in the collision.

Witnesses to the collision should call traffic police on 0161 856 7201.
