Connor gets his message on a postcard!

Connor's Winning PostcardLocal children have expressed their artistic talent in a competition to design a crime and burglary awareness postcard for Greater Manchester Police and Wigan Council.

Youngsters in years 5-6 from St Georges Church of England Primary School, Meadow Bank Primary School and New Greenhall Primary School, Atherton, all had a go at creating images and slogans that would catch the eye of local residents.

Talented winner Connor Greenhalgh (of year 5 New Greenhall Primary School) designed a postcard reminding people to keep their personal possessions safe and his message focused on the theft of laptops.

Connor’s winning design has been printed on the postcards, which are now being distributed by pupils to houses in the areas of all participating schools.

PCSO Neil Fallows said: “This competition has given children an opportunity to link in with their local community, passing on their top tips to help avoid becoming a victim of crime. Pupils have also gained an increased awareness of how to look after themselves and their belongings.”
