Howe Bridge Badminton Club open day huge success!

Howe Bridge Badminton Club welcomed Julie Hilling MP to their open day to support their club.

The open day, held last Saturday at Howe Bridge Sports Centre, invited local children and their parents to come along and enjoy a few free games of badminton.

Julie met club coaches Chris and Laura who have secured funding of £600 from Wigan Badminton Development Group and £1000 from Wigan Athletic F.C. Community Trust to keep the club running.

Vicki Maltby from Badminton England praised Chris and Laura's efforts to get the club started.

The club is affiliated to Badminton England and are now working towards becoming a Badminton England Premier Club and achieving Clubmark status. Julie was presented with a club T-shirt and even played a few shots of Badminton herself.

Julie said "It was great to go along to the open day and see so many children enjoying playing badminton. My thanks go to all at Howe Bridge Badminton Club for their determination to get this club off the ground and to Badminton England for their support".

Howe Bridge Badminton Club train every Saturday at Howe Bridge Leisure Centre from

2pm to 4 pm, and are currently seeking new members, aged 4 – 16 year olds. For further
