A sun bed centre in Leigh was robbed.
At around 4.35pm on Wednesday 10 August 2011, a man walked into the shop on St Helen's Road and walked up to the counter.
He brandished a knife and threatened a staff member, demanding she handed over money.
He walked over to the other side of the counter and opened the till, taking cash before running out, away from Leigh town centre.
No one was hurt.
The man is described as being white, in his 20s, around 5ft 9in tall, of skinny build, had light eyebrows and spoke with a local accent.
He wore a black tracksuit with the hood up and black trainers. He wore a scarf a covering the lower part of his face.
Detective Constable Richard Willoughby from Wigan CID said: "The staff member was left terrified after the ordeal and is struggling to come to terms with what happened.
"I would urge anyone who saw a man fitting this description running away from the town centre to contact police as soon as possible."
