Atherton police appeal for owners to claim recovered stolen property

Police in Atherton have recovered what is believed to be stolen property, and are appealing for the rightful owners to come forward and claim it.

On 22 January 2011 police seized the following items from a house on Dorset Road – a Nintendo Wii console, a white Alcatel mobile phone, two Lacoste jumpers, a computer hard drive, a red Jigsaw power tool, a red electric drill and some blue bolt cutters.

Other items seized were a silver tripod with yellow spirit level, a yellow industrial light, a yellow stand, a green multi-tool and a roll of plastic bags.

A 45-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods and bailed pending further enquiries.

PC James Mitchell of the Atherton Neighbourhood Policing Team said: "We return stolen property whenever we can, but in this case we have exhausted our enquiries and still can't find the rightful owners. Therefore we are asking people to come forward to claim these items, as we believe they are still in good working order and if not claimed they may have to be returned to the address they were recovered from."

Police say the property will only be released to people who can produce either a matching serial number or valid receipts.

If anyone believes they may be the owner of one of these items, please contact the Atherton Neighbourhood Policing Team on 0161 856 7319 and quote the serial number to check for a match. Alternatively, bring any receipts showing proof of purchase to Atherton Police Station on Flapper Fold Lane, Atherton.
