Police are advising owners of commercial vans in the Atherton area not to leave valuables in their vehicles after a number of thefts.
Items including sat navs and power tools were stolen from vans on Milk Street, Primrose Street and Tyldesley Road during six incidents in December 2010.
Police believe the thefts, which have mainly occurred overnight, may be linked, and have carried out night patrols in the areas affected as well as handing out crime prevention advice.

Inspector Liz Sanderson of the Atherton Neighbourhood Policing Team said: "Criminals can steal items in a matter of seconds, so we always advise motorists not to leave sat navs or any other valuables in their vehicles. They should also remove sat nav mounting cradles and make sure they wipe away any suction marks left on the windscreen or dashboard, as thieves will look out for these."
Other crime prevention tips include marking valuables with your postcode and vehicle registration number, and writing down the make, model and serial number of any items likely to tempt thieves.
Motorists are also advised to check their number plates are properly secured after 14 were stolen across the borough between 22 November and 19 December 2010.
Police believe these offences are linked to a recent increase in fuel thefts caused by the rise in petrol prices.
