A woman was punched in the face and robbed of her purse in Leigh.
At about 9.45pm on Monday 27 September 2010, a 53 year-old woman was walking along Tinkersfield after going to the shop.
As she passed the walkway leading to Harptree Grove, three men walked out.
One of them punched her in the face, snatched her purse and all three men ran off.
The woman was so shocked by what had happened she did not see which direction they ran off in.
The robber that punched her is described as a white man, aged between 17 and 20, 5ft 8in tall and of slim to medium build. He was wearing a dark baseball cap, a black tracksuit top that had white stripes down the arms with the hood up, a scarf or his jacket was covering the lower half of his face.
The second man is described as a similar height and build to the first and was dressed entirely in black.
The third man was shorter and was wearing white or cream tracksuit bottoms and a baseball cap, which was backwards on his head.
The woman suffered bruising just under her right eye from the punch. The purse that was stolen had a beige / brown Burberry-style pattern on it and contained a substantial amount of cash.
Police Constable Kat Allen, based at Wigan Police Station, said: "It is horrible that a lad with his mates around him took an opportunity to punch and rob a woman who was on her own.
"Understandably, while her injuries are fading quickly, it will take her a long time to forget this.
"If you recognise these descriptions or know who did this, please contact me or information can be passed anonymously through Crimestoppers."
