Greater Manchester Police would like to thank the Rugby Football League Grand Final supporters for how positively they responded to the policing arrangements.
The final between Wigan Warriors and St Helens was held at Old Trafford on Saturday 2 October 2010, with around 70,000 fans attending.
Eight supporters were arrested for offences, such as drunken disorderly and public order and around 15 people were ejected from the stadium.
Superintendent John Graves of Greater Manchester Police said: "The atmosphere yesterday was the best we have experienced when policing the grand final.
"The vast majority of fans responded very well to the restrictions in place, particularly in relation to alcohol and there was minimal disorder.
"This led to a warm and friendly atmosphere both in the run up to the game and afterwards, which made the whole day enjoyable.
"I hope the fans enjoyed the match and everything else laid on for them and we look forward to welcoming them back next year."
