Man injured after being driven at

A man has been left with serious leg injuries after he was driven at in Wigan.

Police were called to Millers Lane, Platt Bridge, shortly after 3.20am on Saturday 4 September 2010.

Officers attended and discovered the victim had met two men during a night out to celebrate his recent 21st birthday.

The men gave the victim a lift home and following an argument one of the men reversed a car, a silver Vauxhall Astra, at the man, pinning him against a wall and lamppost.

The men then got into the car and drove off, leaving the man with serious leg injuries.

He was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Detective Chief Inspector Howard Millington, said: "The victim has been left with extremely bad injuries as a result of this completely mindless and reckless act.

"We believe the victim met the men in town and are following some excellent lines of inquiry but if you think you know who is responsible I want to hear from you.

"I would also urge the two men to come forward themselves before we come knocking on your door."

Anyone with information is asked to call Wigan CID on 0161 856 5307, or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
