A car thief who mowed down a mother as he tried to steal her car has pleaded guilty to her manslaughter.
Shaun David James Higgins (born 17/3/86) of Church Street, Leigh, pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of Lynda Hankey, 42, at Liverpool Crown Court today, Friday 2 July 2010.
At about 4.20pm on Thursday 14 January 2010, Lynda and her partner were at home in Worsley Mesnes getting ready to go shopping with her partner's five-year-old son.
Higgins took their car, which had been sitting on the driveway with the engine running, and hit Lynda as she tried to stop him.
