Three men tried to rob a woman who was alone at a bus stop in Leigh.
The victim was standing at a bus stop on Leigh Road near to Hartsfarm Mews at about 9pm on Monday 10 May 2010, when three men walked by several times.
Two of the young men stood at either side of the bus stop while the third pulled out a large knife and demanded her possessions.
In an attempt to escape the knifeman, the woman stepped into the road and signalled a passing bus, prompting all three to walk off towards Westbourne Avenue.
The offender with the knife is described as white, in his late teens, 5ft 10in tall of stocky build and was wearing dark clothing with a scarf across his face.
The other two are described as white, in their late teens, 5ft 7in tall of slim build.
PC Ann McGuinness of the Volume Crime Team at Wigan, said: "These three have repeatedly walked around the bus stop, effectively circling their prey before striking.
"They have no qualms about threatening a lone woman and I would urge anyone who might recognise them to come forward.
"This woman's quick-thinking has prevented a robbery but the actions of the offenders are still very serious and I would urge anyone who was out and about in the area at the time to call me so we can bring them to justice."
