Dangerous medication stolen from Atherton Centre

Police in Wigan are issuing a warning after a quantity of medication was stolen.

This morning, Saturday 20 March 2010, staff at The Atherton Centre in York Street, Atherton, discovered the building had been broken into and prescription medicine had been stolen from a cabinet.

A quantity of tablets, glass vials and syringes were stolen and the medication is labelled Olanzapine, Depixol, Clopixol, Oranzapine, Haldol, Clozaril, Aripiprazole, Risperidol, Quietiapine, Citalopram and Procyclidine.

All this medication can prove extremely dangerous to both children and adults if taken and in some cases can be fatal.

Anyone who finds or is offered these tablets or glass vials is advised not to take them and to hand them into their nearest police station.

Police Sergeant Edward Barker said: "These tablets, if taken, could kill a child and even an adult. It is vital that if anyone comes across this medication that they do not consume any of the tablets and hand them into police immediately."

Anyone with information is asked to call Greater Manchester Police on 0161 872 5050 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
