Remembrance Parade Atherton - Letter

Dear Sir,

What a disgrace the remembrance parade was in Atherton, we were all standing there on the footpath, when during prayer for the fallen heros, cars started to come along the road. I went up to a police officer, and I said to him

"Have you no respect? Why are you letting cars through?"

He said it was not him but his traffic sargent, and he could not overrule him.

I told him it was a disgrace, went back to were my daughter was stood, and all the people were stood in the road stopping the traffic, no cars came through then.

I was later told that the road was not down for closure.

They have had a year to plan this. Maybe it was because the Mayor was not there this time, but anyway, as far as I am concerned the police could have stopped it, but they didn't...

So much for RESPECT.

MR SP WRIGHT

ATHERTON.
