Atherton community get opportunity to discuss proposal for new secondary school

chapel StA public meeting has been arranged for Monday 27th June 7:30pm at Formby Hall to discuss the proposed new Atherton Community School. The meeting is open to all and will provide an opportunity for the community to find out more about the proposal and become involved if they wish to do so.

Chapel St and Atherton Community School have now submitted a full business case to the Department of Education proposing a new secondary school for Atherton. The business case proposed that Atherton Community School will open in September 2012 providing high quality education for 11-19 year olds as the school will also encompass a full 6th form.

An earlier business case was submitted in April but CSACC were asked to clarify some matters and provide more information. A revised business case was then resubmitted this month and CSACC are now confident this now represents a vision of secondary education that will excite the whole community.

CSACC would like to welcome all local parents and the wider community to the meeting at Formby Hall on Monday 27th June 7:30pm. The business case outlines a broad vision for the future of secondary education in Atherton but there is still much to discuss and the views of the local community are pivotal if Atherton Community School is to succeed.
