A Story of the Pretoria Pit Disaster

Realeased on the 7th September, this book about the Pretoria Pit disaster has just been brought to out attention. The author Andrea Finney describes it as:

"a true story based on the life of my Gt Gt Grandmother Elizabeth Gore who lost her son in the disaster in 1910 - and how the pit disaster effected the lives of the communities.  I have also liaised with the Editor in Chief at Bolton News and included in the book is the reports on the days following the disaster by a reporter at the scene nearly 100 years ago."

The editor, peakpublish, Jeni Edwards, said "This is one of those books where truth is stronger than fiction. We are given an intimate glimpse into the lives, loves and tragedies of a close knit northern community. Andrea has captured the taste of the time, and we have the privilege of tasting it too, Jack bait and all."

We've not had chance to read it yet but if anyone would like to submit a review of the book for Atherton Online's culture section, just email it to email@athertononline.co.uk and we'll be happy to publish it.
